The Stained Glass Museum

Discover the art of stained glass.

Visit the only museum dedicated to stained glass in the UK. Be inspired by stunning examples of this illuminating art, spanning the 13th to 21st centuries.

The museum’s permanent gallery space in the triforium of Ely Cathedral houses a chronological display featuring stained glass from the museum’s collection of rescued stained glass as well as from partner organisations the V&A and the Royal Collection. Displayed at eye-level, visitors can experience this art form at close quarters.

Children’s dress-up zones, discovery bags and an interactive light-box will keep younger visitors busy. Our museum shop stocks a variety of handmade glass gifts.

An engaging learning programme for all ages sees practical glass workshops led by professional artists, talks, tours and family activities held throughout the year. For more information see the museum’s What’s On page.

The museum is principally funded through its paying visitors, events and retail, supported by a small number of grants.
